The Advice Shop is part of the Anti-Poverty Service, a free, impartial and confidential service to help the people of West Lothian. They aim to provide financial support, help to tackle poverty and promote inclusion and equality through a range of services.

MHAP is an independent project that provides both individual and collective advocacy services for people aged between 18 and 65, who have or have had mental health issues and/or addictions problems and who live in or are receiving treatment in West Lothian.

Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. For those aged 55 or over, living in West Lothian and would like support and to connect with others and improve their mental health and wellbeing. They support people on a one-to-one or group basis and their support is based on the five ways to wellbeing.

A safe confidential space for Women with mild to moderate mental ill health to support each other and help reduce isolation.

West Lothian PANDAS is a peer support group for parents and guardians affected by pre/postnatal depression and/or anxiety. This is an informal group and offers peer support in a welcoming and non-judgmental environment. Supports people who are stable within their substance use with the following support and activities: one-to-one psychosocial interventions, signposting to relevant services, Foundations of Recovery Community Rehab Programme, mutual aid/SMART Recovery, provision and training for Naloxone, volunteers/peers with lived experience, women’s group, coffee club, service User Forum.

Cyrenians OPAL (Opportunities for Active Lives) works with people aged 60+ promoting active and fulfilling lives, creating and enriching communities which empower all to remain independent, living at home and socially connected. OPAL provides community groups throughout West Lothian for people to attend and one to one support.

This service is for parents, carers and other family members of trans people. Transparentsees is run by volunteers and they provide support by website, email, phone and a closed and secret FB group which can be accessed after telephone vetting. Monthly meeting’s on Zoom are also provided, giving you an opportunity to connect with other’s who have similar experiences from all over Scotland.  transparentsees@gmail.com

Carers of West Lothian’s social groups for disabled adults run monthly and are a great way to meet other people, build friendships and get out more, while having fun. Social groups are run by Carers of West Lothian staff and volunteers.

Home-Start West Lothian supports families (with children under the age of 5) who are going through a difficult time. Trained volunteers support together with one of its Family Coordinators. Support usually lasts 9 months which involved one-to-one and group work.

Listen & Link is an early intervention phoneline service for children, young people and families who have concerns for the mental wellbeing of a child or young person in their household. A young person or adult can make the call themselves, or someone they trust can make the call on their behalf, asking Listen & Link to make contact. Text service “Voice”, 24/7. Action Against Stalking provide a unique throughcare support service for victims of stalking. They understand the damage and trauma you may have experienced at the hands of a stalker. They offer practical and emotional support from experienced practitioners. Support is phone/video call based.

This local Victim Support service, located in Livingston, has a support team for employees and volunteers, specialising in: confidential, free emotional and practical support for people after a crime, guidance through the criminal justice system, reporting a crime through our Third Party Reporting service, help with Victim Impact Statements, information regarding court attendance for victims and witnesses, referral to the Witness Service for people giving evidence in court.

HcL Transport provides supported community transport services in Edinburgh and the Lothians. It provides door-through-door services for people with limited mobility who are unable to use ordinary buses and/or suffering a degree of social exclusion due to age, disability, additional support needs, health issues (long or short term) and geographic remoteness. 01506 633953

Local volunteers bring friendship and joy to older people’s lives whilst providing much needed practical help. This includes delivering fresh food and groceries, sharing a portion of their own home-cooked food, arranging social events with transport solutions, collecting and renewing library books and helping with jobs about the house.

Seen But Not Heard is a collective advocacy project for people with experience of eating disorders. The Domestic and Sexual Assault Team (DASAT) provides a specialised service to Adults and Children in West Lothian who are experiencing, or have experienced domestic abuse, gender- based violence and provides support to victims of sexual violence.

Wellbeing Scotland offers a range of support to people whose adverse life circumstances have had any impact on their wellbeing. It offers; counselling, advocacy, befriending, groups. Wellbeing Scotland employs specialist trauma therapists for people who have experienced trauma and counsellors for people who have experienced mental health difficulties.

Gate is a skills development and training service for neurodivergent adults aged 16+. Trainees at Gate will have the opportunity to enhance their skills and improve their wellbeing and confidence through a wide range of activities, including vocational and accredited courses, all of which are run by skilled tutors and tradespeople.

You My Sister delivers ‘life changing’ mental health recovery programmes for: Women harmed in the sex industries, Women who have experienced domestic abuse. The programmes are run: by 2 staff members – at least one (often both) with lived experience.
