16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence

Working collaboratively each year with West Lothian Council and Police Scotland we hold the ’16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence’ campaign from 25th November to 10th December, Human Rights Day.

16 Days of Activism is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls.

Each year we ensure there are a wide array of activities for people to get involved with, including our annual march and rally, to taking part in online discussions all with the aim of raising awareness of the devastating and sometimes life changing or life ending, impacts of domestic abuse on women and their families. We aim to share with the wider community the supports we can offer to women and children experiencing domestic abuse, as well as educate on how these patterns of abusive behaviours can be identified earlier by vulnerable women and children.

The 16 Days awareness event also allows women and their families to learn about the additional supports outwith WLWA they may be able to benefit from, build relationships with women though shared experiences and educate themselves further on building self-esteem and awareness of the red flags to look out for in future relationships.

We will shortly be updating this site with our calendar of events - please check back for updates and get involved where you can!
